Back Cabin (Ceiling height around 6 feet)
Boatman's back cabin built in traditional style. The cabin is fitted with tongue and groove timber and scumbled. Scumbling is a traditional painting technique used to paint a 'wood grain' on a surface. Other surfaces decorated with traditional hand painted roses and castles designs. Rear double doors onto back deck - a traditional well deck typical of butty boats. On the left of the photo is seating with shelving underneath the section in the foreground, cupboard space under the far section. Shelving and small cupboard at rear. Out of shot to the right of the photo is a fold down bed which comes to rest on the edge of the seat opposite forming a 4' wide bed across the boat. The bed contains a hand made seven layer futon mattress. Cupboards over bed. On the far side of the bed is a cupboard whose door folds down to form a table. At the rear on the right of the photo is a traditional cast iron, solid fuel stove (non-functioning) for decorative purposes. Halogen light on ceiling. 12v power point.
Kitchen
The kitchen offers 2 cookers - a modern gas oven and an equally modern gas fired Rayburn stove, which also runs the central heating. The cooker has four hobs, grill and oven. To it's left is a marble worktop above cupboard storage. There is a stainless steel sink and draining board also with a cupboard below. Cupboard contains shower pump.

On the other side of the kitchen in a LPG fired Rayburn Royal stove in excellent condition. Features a cast iron hotplate and an oven. Pipes run to two radiators. In the foreground is a craftsman built oak kitchen unit with a marble top. Contains gas fridge, storage for food and utensils. Open shelving acting as divider to living room. Halogen lighting.
Bathroom.
I like my shower. It's a bit daft but fun. It's entered through an archway from the bathroom. The bathroom features a sink and a toilet. There's room for a pump out toilet to be installed if desired. Shelving. 12v halogen light. Paloma water heater providing hot water to shower, bathroom sink and kitchen sink.
Living Room
20' long living space. Varnished hardwood floor. Seating. Shelving for hi fi and books. Colour TV (included). Large wall mirror. 2- 12v deep cycle batteries under steps. Steps to hatch. Double door hatch.

12v and 240v power points. 2 ceiling mounted halogen lights. Double pine doors to studio. Antique brass handles.
Studio
Ash paneled walls. Black lacquered floor with Celtic pattern. Solid redwood front door lacquered black. Antique brass scratchplate. Brass fittings. 12 portholes. Large and small skylights. Futon (included). Water pump for hot and cold running water. Radiator.
Studio(2)
The space is designed to contrast with the living room. While the latter makes use of earth colours and warm tones, the studio is monochromatic with an emphasis on maximising the amount of light. It was built as a studio for a painter.
